What Literacy Means to Me

Literacy is the ability to read, write, and understand a certain language. But, I identify mostly with the second part of the definition of literacy -

The condition or quality of being knowledgeable in a particular subject or field.

to be proficient in a certain area. For me, that area is music. Since music has become a huge part of my life, literacy to me means the ability to play the flute and read and understand music. I have been playing the flute and reading music for eleven years now.

An Introduction of Sorts...

Yay! I have yet another blog! But that's okay. The purpose of this blog is for our upcoming Japan/Taiwan trip!!! I'm so excited! Only ten more days until we leave!!! I don't really know anybody going on the trip, but I love meeting new people so that is fine with me. We have had a couple of meetings that have been extremely helpful. Anyways, I'm sure those of you reading this are probably wondering who I am so...my name is Megan and I am a Music Education major at Appalachian State University. I am also pursuing a minor in Business so yes, this trip is relevent to my education, haha. I play the flute and I love traveling (obviously), sleeping, sleeping while traveling, music, shopping, swimming, dancing, exploring other cultures (especially those in Asia), and reading. I am a member of the Anime Club here, too. I also like taking pictures of sushi because it's pretty. And it's the best food ever! ^_^

Right now, it is Sunday afternoon and I am enjoying the lovely weather we are having. I've been doing laundry and trying to clean my apartment so I better get back to that! Ja ne! (I think that's what they say, haha)
